So Pc world came out with thier review of the LW476500 from LG.
Pros

  • Excellent feature selection
  • Highly competitive price
  • Very good image quality
  • Cons
  • Minor motion issues
Bottom Line
LG's 47LW6500 passive-3D LED TV offers great image quality and features for the price

Is the quick version but there is a whole lot more to the article.

I will provide you with the link here.

Now that it is Dolby certified how great is that and still $900-$1500 less than a Sony or Samsung.

So if you interested go check out the review. Look at the pictures for sure. The side picture of this TV looks sexy for sure! 4/5 is pretty good but for only minor motion issues I would have given it a 4.5/5 I feel that is more accurate. Either way its a near perfect TV for gaming so no matter how you feel go check one out.

Check out a user review there.

I don't really cnets TV reviews from the editors they seems to always be the opposite of the users something people hate an return they love and good solid TVs they hate.

The best part of the whole deal is that the TV is certified by THX! Thats right THX in both 2d and 3d modes so what ever your watching its going to look awesome!

So check the out new LW9800 from LG on sale now at who ever sells TVs by your house.

Active 3D may cause photo sensitive epileptic seizures

"  "WARNING," says the Samsung site that promotes its new line of 3D sets, "children and teenagers may be more susceptible to health issues associated with viewing in 3D and should be closely supervised when viewing these images.
"Pregnant women, the elderly, sufferers of serious medical conditions, those who are sleep deprived or under the influence of alcohol should avoid utilizing the unit's 3D functionality," it reads. "

I for one saw this comming any technology that is blocking vision from one eye very rapidly is bound to cause both brain and eye problems.

Viewers choose Passive 3D TV

To many people, a 3D TV set is a 3D TV set. But it’s not, there are two distinct systems being sold right now. Active and passive 3DTV are fighting it out to win the 3D format crown, and LG have released data showing that passive 3D is preferred by viewers.
passive acrive 3d 300x220 Viewers Choose Passive 3D Over Active 3D TV Sets
Passive 3D beats Active in consumer study
Passive 3D is found in most cinemas and uses circular polarization to separate the left and right eye images on screen. Active 3D needs a power source for the specs and each lens shuts to show each eye a different image.
Active 3D specs cost between $50-$100 per pair and require batteries. Passive glasses cost around $2 or just “borrow” a pair from your local theater.
There is much arguing over the systems, with proponents of active 3D claiming less flicker and a brighter image. Of course, passive users would argue with those points, and also mention the massive savings when needing additional glasses (some TV’s ship with one pair only!)
The results were released this week and commissioned by LG who used Morpace to do the study. The end result found that 80% of consumers prefer the passive 3D TVs over active 3D sets.
The study was not biased either as LG produce both types of 3D sets. the consumer test compared the LG passive glasses 3DTV against a Samsung active-shutter glasses-based 3DTV and separately against a Sony active-shutter set.
Morpace measured real-time feedback, and found that consumers preferred the passive 3D sets in many of the categories, including overall 3D experience, 3D picture quality and 3D effect. Users also much preferred the lighter passive 3D glasses available at your local cineplex.
Speaking about the results, Wayne Park, CEO for LG Electronics USA said:- “We developed LG Cinema 3D to solve the problems consumers were experiencing with active 3D and to provide the best 3D experience in the home. With its outstanding picture quality, affordability, and easy-to-use and share glasses, it’s no surprise that LG CINEMA 3D technology is preferred by four out of five of consumers over Sony and Samsung’s active 3D.”
It is expected that by the year 2014, 3D TVs will account for over 40% of the overall TV sales. And research by IHS iSuppli shows that by 2015, over half of those 3D TV sales will be for the passive 3D type.

Sky 3D is now over a year old!

In 3D news time flies when you are having fun.

As the title says Sky 3D is over a year old and starting to advertise on 2d TVs with remote Romania getting its own 3D channel now.

The U.S already has 2 providers with a handful of full time 3D channels 6 to my count and with espn 3D signing an NFL deal I think we can see a post season 3D TV buying spree.

A screen capture for one of the new Sky ads

Also LG released the specs for its flagship Cinema 3D TV in the U.K. which is the same as the LW9800 in the U.S.

"The viewing angle on both screens is good, thanks in part to their use of IPS (in-place switching) panels, while both have identical design; a rectangular stand with a glass column supporting the TV (and almost magnifying the cables behind - weird).
Boasting built-in Wi-Fi, the LW980T Series screens also manage 2D to 3D conversion, host LG’s Smart TV hub, feature four HDMI inputs and two USB ports - but it was one off-piste feature that really got us excited.
It’s called "dual play", and it’s a stunningly good idea for split-screen games; it‘s possible to sit next to another gamer and both play the same (normally) split-screen game, on the same LW980T telly, but using 3D glasses to see only their own side of the screen. This split-screen-to-full screen conversion is done not by reinventing some new panel tech, but instead by having two pairs of glasses, and swapping their lenses around so one pair has two left eye lenses, and the other has two right-eye lenses. Easy - and brilliant. Dual screen glasses will be available in the near future, though it’s probably easier just to make your own - both these TVs come with seven pairs of 3D glasses.
Without being able to see exactly where your opponent is hiding, you’ll never cheat at Call of Duty again. Both LW980T Nano Full LED 3D TVs are available in the UK later this month for £1799 and £2499 respectively."
Here is an excerpt from the review on pocket-lint.

Sony Going to passive tech?

As the article below states LG is really getting active about passive 3D!

They are in talks with Sony to sell and license them to make Cinema 3D powered TVs.

That would put everyone but Samsung into the Cinema 3d license camp.

This would be huge for LG and the cost of both making active 3D Sets and the extra $600 to $1,000 it costs consumers to buy one may have Sony wanted to change to the cheaper and widely accepted as a better viewing experience.

What do you think?
