Classic Game of Atari can become a movie!

It is normal to see a film-maker turning a famous game into movie, but when it comes to Asteroids is a bit weird.
Director Roland Emmerich, famous for its disaster and action movies like Independence day, also the day after tomorrow and more recently 2012, will direct an adaptation of Asteroids, a classic Atari video game.
Considering that it’s a game with no narrative or clear story, you can build any story over this game that could make good sense to this “antique” game, here’s a short synopsis of what we should expect from a movie based on the game.
As I said before, since the game from 1979 and it doesn’t have “a story”, the film will relate a story about the life of the last human survivors who now have to carry on in life colonies in an Asteroid belt. They believe the aliens that dominate their territory were benevolent and rescued them from the Earth's destruction. At one point, they discover that, in fact, the aliens were responsible for the end of the planet.
